Introduction

These days IPowerweb, Inc. has given themselves the tag line, “The Power Behind eBusiness”. After doing our research and deciding to work with the provider, we have to concur. Not only were they one of our favorites of all the site we researched and put a Web site up with, “they are one of the world’s leading eBusiness Web site hosting provider, serving over 170,000 customers. They offer Internet-based end-to-end solutions for small and medium sized enterprises. They offer four world class quality Tier 1 Internet data centers which are optimized to provide web, data and application hosting”.

Price Effectiveness

The first word that comes to mind with them is professional. The package (they only offer one) is slick and well put together. We got the impression that this Internet Web hosting provider really catered to folks who are serious about their Web-based businesses; net entrepreneurs who wanted to be sure they signed on with a provider that gave them the features, functions, software and support that would give them the time they needed to just focus on launching and building their business enterprises. Reliable is the other word that comes to mind.

IPowerweb’s Business Pro Web hosting package – the only package they offer - is $7.95 per month. The offer free set-up, 800 megs, 400 emails, SSL, CGI-Bin, MySQL, unlimited email forwarding, dynamic content, a marketing package and some nice sign-up bonus package, for example design templates. This plan is ecommerce ready, which is a nice plus.

Data Center

Still we hit a few gotcha, like for the base package – priced a reasonable $7.95 per month – you still won’t get toll-free support, something that Ipowerweb’s competitors (at least many of them) do offer. Like we said, maybe that training that has made their customer support reps super stars didn’t leave them a lot of cash for extras. Bummer – because more and more potential customers don’t look at these types of services as extras – they expect them. The $7.95 package of course includes comparable features to what other Internet Web hosting providers are offering – 400 MB and 30 GB of web traffic. They also have a wide range of standard products in their package that we have come to expect these days - including MySQL, PHP and FrontPage support. Last we spoke they had plans in the works for a proprietary control panel. They currently use CPanel5, which in our opinion is just fine. The only improvement would be if they offered Hsphere, which is just out-and-out a better panel for novice and expert alike.

We were curious how their server reliability would pan out. While they are relatively secret about their data center configurations and environment, we got the feeling they had been investing in more that technical support – we got the feeling that the data center hardware was screaming and beefy! Stacked up against those of their competition that we know for a fact, have powerhouse hardware, they fare well and have 99+% reliability. We do have to comment that this high percent always looks good on paper; please, please, please it is important to remember that this has really become the rule versus the exception in this industry. Would you seriously consider an Internet Web hosting provider that didn’t offer this level of uptime? We were also able to find out that they limit the number of Web sites hosted on a single server – this is another way that Internet Web hosting providers help ensure they can deliver the uptime they claim.

Customer Relations

Their customers give them high marks for the large searchable database of answers to many common questions they have compiled as well as the tutorials that are offered on the site. For an Internet Web hosting provider that appeals to the seasoned professional, we though that this was a nice plus. Even if you are novice you could sign up with folks that really know what they are doing as you grow into your business.

In the old days Ipowerweb – with a data center in Santa Monica, California – seemed like they had too few customer service reps to go around judging from their old hold times. We have to say that once you did speak with a rep they were knowledgeable – many of our questions were answered during the initial call. It is important to note that this was just a blip in their history as a company and they corrected the problem quickly. Given how fast they vastly improved the situation and remedied the problem, we can only guess that the company caught up on their recruiting. Either that or they have been training their employees in super-charged customer service. Regardless, their support seems to have caught up with how well the rest of this company is doing. With all eight cylinders humming along, we are happy to say that they are doing a great job.

Conclusion

All in all, iPowerweb remained one of our favorites and we could not really see anyway you could go wrong if you selected them as you Internet Web hosting provider.
