Price
and Cost Effectiveness
Jumpline.com
is a privately owned Tier 1 hosting
provider with mixed reviews. The service
is more expensive than some of the other
providers we have looked at, yet they do
not get high ratings on uptime.
Jumplines pricing is much higher
compared to that of many of their competitors.
For $11.95, you only get 7.5 GB of traffic
and 200 MB of space, and compared to many
of the web-hosting companies weve
reviewed, Jumpline is one of the most
expensive. The features they offer for
this simple plan are similar to packages
you can get as cheap as $5, such as MySQL.
Jumpline also permits you to host up to
6 domains per an account, which is a big
benefit that many web hosting companies
do not offer.
Reliability
In
a year of hosting our sites, Jumplines
web hosting seems quite reliable considering
the fact that its only been down a couple
of times during that time. Thanks to their
state-of-the-art data center, they can
achieve it with ease. They also have
been in business longer than most web
hosting companies and have over 50,000
customers since 1997. Their web hosting
has never been cheap, but rather the
company focus on providing more reliable
hosting for their customers.
Data
Center
Jumpline
hosting offers one of the most reliable
backbones around, thanks to its OC-192
connection with Qwest. The performance
of Jumpline is on par with that of many
of top web hosting companies, and their
state-of-the-art data center also offers
proper cooling and security for their
servers, so you can be ensured that your
data will be in good hands.
Customer
Relations
An
email response to Jumpline took well over
3 days before we finally received a response,
and this is after testing their support
for several months, so we know they have
not improved. Their customer service responses
are also general cover-all situation answers.
Oftentimes they would lose the customers
data and their phone support would not
work. This is simply not how web hosting
business is done.
Control
Panel
Jumpline
utilizes the Sphera control panel. The
control panel has the best visual appearance
compared to the others weve used,
however, when comparing features, Hsphere
still tops the list. In addition, the
Sphera control panel might look good,
but it lacks speed. This is one of the
slowest control panels that weve
seen, even on a cable modem. IBM is one
of the big corporations that uses the
Sphera control panel.
Overall
Jumplines
features and good control panel were a
plus, but the negatives outweigh the positives
by far. Jumplines poor customer
service and extremely high prices make
Jumpline web hosting a poor choice and
definitely not worth your time.
