Im in the
adult
business and
Im looking
for a
dedicated
server for
our
promotional
tools, which
include
hosted
picture
galleries,
which get a
ton of
traffic.
Currently we
do around
20-25 mbps
at any given
time, but we
do have
spikes to
around
30-35. Our
plan is to
be at around
35 mbps in
six months,
but not go
much beyond
that. What
is right for
me? I
emailed one
hosting
company
yesterday,
they got
back to me
this morning
and I
immediately
got back to
them to
catch them
during
working
hours (and
about 3
hours of
time before
the end of
the business
day in their
country),
but I didnt
hear back.
If this is
how the
sales team
handles
things, Im
not sure I
want to
trust their
support
department,
so Im
shopping for
other
companies. I
was thinking
Dual Xeons
with at
least 4 GB
of ram and
at least 250
GB (x2 in
RAID 1) HDs.
What do you
guys
recommend?
Is anyone
into adult
in here? Who
worked? Who
didnt?

I run a site on a dedicated server, main reason for this is because I was stealing all the bandwidth for other sites when I was on a shared server, so the guys I get it from had to move me. Now I get a not bad price, and a good amount of bandwidth traffic. My site has over 5000 members, and gets around 100 new members a week (was a bit crazy with 12,000 at 1 point, but we lost a year of the database) Anyway, my providers keep asking me if I am looking to put Direct admin on my server, so that I can add my Domains, and even resell if I wanted to. Now the adding my own domains Idea is good, cause the way I do it the now is a pain in the ***, my email admin is ok, but would prefer something easier. But I am just looking for advice on how easy DA is to use on a dedi, and would I be able to control what sort of bandwidth, and space I gave out to others with ease? Regards Colin
