Web Hosting Company Search
By
Staff
There is an
interesting historical note as to why it is so
easy to find cheap web hosting (bear in mind
that cheap is by far not the only
criteria you should consider when selecting an
Internet Web hosting provider). Some the of
more successful companies that started out in
the Internet land grab frenzy and managed to
survive the dot com death march stuck to their
guns over keeping their prices affordable. In
some cases their prices were half of what other
business were offering. Lots of those first
companies went the way of the dodo and are no
longer in business. But lucky for those of us
looking for an affordable Internet provider, the
cheap guys won!
Fast forward to
today. Rest assured that you will have no
trouble finding an alternative that suits your
budget. Decide first what you want your web
site to do. How will it support your business
goals? From there put together a list of
services you would like to have from your ideal
hosting provider. Do you want hosting that also
offers all-in-one design and development service
and maybe some marketing help? How do the
providers you are considering compare on what
they charge for setting up? If you are a web
designer yourself, you might like a provider
that offers reseller packages so you can offer
cheap hosting to your own clients while you
design their site.
So what should
you look for?
Reputation. Are
they reliable? You may not need a site that is
up 99% of the time
right? Wrong. Why would you
not expect that level of reliability these
days? Do not rely on the testimonials posted on
the Web site. They may have useful specific
information but they will not offer anything in
the way of a critique or review of the
provider. See if the provider you are
considering has any large customers that is a
good thing in and of its self and if so, can
you get some feedback from them about their
experience with the Internet Web hosting
provider. You can also ask colleagues who have
existing Web-based business for their
recommendations. Match apples to apples here
if you are planning to launch a large
data-driven online pure play, seek advice from
those with a similar infrastructure behind their
businesses.
